New Trend: Wrought Iron Furniture

Today Classic wrought-iron styling with its appealing curves and elegant design is hotter than ever. Casual furniture made from iron has been extraordinarily popular for more than a century. It is versatile, stylish, strong, and often less expensive than furniture made with other materials. Being sturdy and unbreakable, it is used extensively today for creating furniture that look very different from the wooden furniture. Undeniably handsome, elegant and space saving, its beauty is striking; its demeanor is classic and understated and is so durable that it lasts for generations of its proud owners. However, the abundant selection of wrought iron furniture and its sources can boggle the mind of any customer. To enjoy the timeless life, one should be able to recognize quality and source the materials from the right manufacturer.
Quality is the focal point of all furniture and only quality wrought iron furniture is durable, last for decades requiring minimal maintenance. This is achieved only through use of superior quality raw material, stringent quality checks at all levels of production and through skilled artisans backed by on a regular basis with the latest innovations. Once the assembly of these things is done, the metal is chemically treated and then coated with a baked-on powder coated finish. These qualities would give the desired mark of excellence to the product thereby giving maximum satisfaction to its owner.
Over the last few years, finish options in metal furniture have become quite exciting. While the most popular colors are still black and white which could be given by any local manufacturer or supplier, there are wonderful coatings of every variety that look Old World through the miracles of modern science and are the forte of only specialist wrought iron manufacturers. Beware of cheap imports that coat their furniture with spray paint. If the manufacturer – no ifs, and or buts – has not properly coated your wrought iron/metal furniture – it will rust!
One should look for manufacturers who have their own distinct and pleasant designs for wrought iron products unlike ones who cheaply imitate or copy from catalogues or foreign periodicals. Insist on seeing the actual piece of furniture rather than seeing it on paper, as the result from the later could be very different product and quality. Seeing believes in the world of wrought iron and do not fall a prey to non-practical furniture and designs! If sourced wrongly, it would be too late before one realizes that the furniture is a liability rather than an asset.
Only high quality iron furniture provides customers, a matchless blend of art, craft, grace and durability. Remember that only quality wrought iron is investment furniture!

This was one event that architects, interior designers and homemakers were eagerly awaiting. Interiors 2004, a showcase of interior and exterior decor at Netaji Indoor Stadium unraveled the key to restyle and refresh homes.
This landmark event saw new ideas, styles and designs meet under a single roof to showcase the latest that the market offers in furniture, upholstery, lights, paintings, flooring’s, wall hangings and home appliances. “The idea behind letting out space to 108 stalls was to promote the concept of interiors beyond furniture,” explained Atul Bothra, president, Association of Architects, Builders, Interior Decorators & Allied Business, organizer of the event.

Visitors at the exhibition seemed taken by the mock- rooms on the premises, where different design concepts along with application of various innovative products, realistic displays of bedrooms, living rooms, dining rooms, bathrooms and offices were exhibited. Also available at each stall was a large volume of product information including sizes, prices and installation procedures down to the last detail.
Among furniture, wrought-iron was the biggest draw, with such players as S.T. Unicom and Metallica D’Art trying to get an edge over each other in hooking prospective buyers. While S.T. Unicom combines leather and upholstery with wrought-iron, the Metallica D’Art range of furniture consists of plain wrought-iron beds, tables, flower stands and lamps. A bedroom package furniture to avoid being duped. Taag Lifestyle Impressed with its youth furniture made of cherry wood, leather and teak wood. Deyali Comforts unveiled a new range of folding furniture at the exhibition.
Model kitchens and model bathrooms lured customers in large numbers. Studio 104 showcased a range of laminated furniture with spray paint. The curtain rods and chiks on display at the Annans Engg Co. Ltd stall are sure to add glamour to the gloomiest of rooms. For those who like to have lamps in their homes, there are up-lighters, mirror lights, spotlights, crystal wall lights, ceiling lights and corner lights at the exhibition.

Decorating our homes tastefully and within a reasonable budget could pose a problem at times. Getting elegant, yet sturdy furniture, the best flooring and bric-a-brac together can be, if not painstaking, a time-consuming affair in the least. Amongst the wrought iron furniture exhibited, those of S.T.Unicom and Thakur Engineering Works were eye-catching. The range of contemporary computer tables from Kelvin Impex Ltd. were also worth choosing from. However, amongst the most unique of displays was that of designer Snehalata Dhote’s range of exotic stained glass paintings, etched, fused, frosted, spray painted and sand blasted glass for windows, screens and headboards.
