Bomma Phenomena – Attractive Contemporary Forms

The Phenomena range by Bomma are sculptural mouthblown lights designed by Studio Dechem. The collection comprises of hanging & floor lamps which are inspired by simple shapes such as a circle, triangle, rectangle and oval.

The forms are what first attract you in an instant. The collection has gained its name from the term phenomenon which is the Greek word for ‘appearance’. The shades are hand blown glass with fittings in a gold and silver finish. The collection is produced in gradient glass – a material that is so difficult, yet versatile, so strong, yet fragile.

The collection has a minimalist and elegant appearance and serves as an object of decoration even when turned off. For an even better visual effect, several Phenomena of different colours and shapes is recommended to be combined together. These pendant lamps are best suited in a private interior space, such as a living room, a dining room, a kitchen or in a professional space such as a lounge or a restaurant.

The collection also has a cut version which combines the tradition of mouth-blown Czech cut crystal with a contemporary and smart approach to design.

Bomma was founded in 2012, continually bringing the traditional Czech glassmaking craft to new and dynamic levels. It is Europe’s most modern production facility and is known for its precise cutting technology, exceptionally clear crystal, as well as oversized mouth-blown glass. Bomma’s emphasis on contemporary design, outstanding glass quality and detail has brought them many awards and a worldwide recognition.

Serip’s Novelties at Livingetc

WINGS OF FANCY

Bringing the Beauty and the Beast’s castle to life, Serip’s Origem handrail, crafted in bronze, takes your breath away in the first glance. Merging the singular and the unique into reality, this handrail is the epitome of an organic design, blending into contemporary interiors in a majestic way. The delicate, floating limbs of the handrail bring to mind the Tree of Souls from Avatar. It too, had multiple tentacles spreading out in an artistic way.

Featuring Pantone Colour of the year – Masiero at Livingetc

Pantone Colour 2019
LIVING CORAL

Presenting the Pantone Color of the Year. According to the Pantone Color Institute, Living Coral “embodies our desire for playful expression”, as well as “our innate need for optimism and joyful pursuits”. Kick off this year with this bright, shining beacon of hope. In fact, we found Jennifer Lopez and Gigi Hadid already jumping on the coral style train. We are in love with this pretty shade that Christian Louboutin has translated into the gorgeous leather pumps. The peppy shade had also found its way into the Milan Design Week in 2018, with India Mahdavi creating a life-size doll-like bathroom vanity and mirror bathtub for Bisazza.

Old is still new
Up-cycled furniture is cost-efficient, sustainable and makes for a great conversation starter. Rather than creating from scratch, look at salvaging existing pieces and up-cycling them to suite your aesthetic, says Ar. Neesha Alwani of n+s architects | interior designers | planners, adding that vintage pieces are in demand because of the high quality of workmanship and materials used.

Create an accent wall for a dramatic effect

Stand-out walls
An accent wall treated strategically and tastefully can bring warmth into a dull space. Use veneers, fabric, leather paneling or even interesting wallpapers, says Mona Dejgani Mehrally, Co-founder of the Mumbai-based home décor store, Maroon Manor. Even curtains in warm white, taupe or grey, when drawn, can create a beautiful shell for furniture and accessories.

Go over-the-top with statement pieces and quirky lighting

Focal pieces
Statement pieces – furniture, light fittings, art or collections of objects – continue to dramatically lift the look of any space, set the tone, never failing to elicit a response from visitors, says Neesha. In particular, adds Mona, we are seeing high-gloss finished furniture used alongside pieces with a dead-matte finish. Gold and copper tray-tables, purple sofas, textured rugs and velvet drapes – all things over-the-top – add to this look, confirms Shami Goregaoker, Design Director, GA Design, a multidisciplinary architecture and design practice.

Materials matter
Rose gold is phasing out, while mixed metals with muted colours will trend in 2018, says Navin Kanodia, MD and Interior Stylist, SPACIO. As for colours, besides ultra-violet, shades of lavender and pink will be used a lot more. Shami suggests pairing purple with dark neutrals like black, grey or walnut brown for a grounded appeal.

Light it up
Navin explains that exposed lighting is fast fading out even as decorative lighting is here to stay. Gita seconds the trend of quirky pendant, floor and table lamps being favoured, as they add an element of unexpected intrigue.

So, it’s time to say cheers to making your home both, stylish and functional!
