Visually Striking Spaces with ADND – Shobhan & Anand

Architect Shobhan Kothari graduated from Kamla Raheja Vidyanidhi Institute for Architecture (KRVIA) in Mumbai. He went on to study in an exchange student program at McGill University, Montreal, Canada for six months. He has gained much of his experience doing an internship at Kapadia associates where he worked on Crossroads, Tardeo. After his graduation he worked with architect Nitin Killawala. During his course of working there he was presented an opportunity to design a Deaf and Mute institute in Mumbai. With this project he began his career and set up a practice in 2000.

Later in 2002 he formed a partnership with Architect Anand Menon who also graduated from Kamla Raheja Vidyanidhi Institute for Architecture. He has worked with Ar. Rahul Mehrotra and prepared a detailed set of measured drawings for the Rajabhai Clock Tower, as part of a heritage conservation program. After graduating he did an internship with Ar. Nitin Killawala and it was here that his unofficial partnership with Shobhan flourished through their interactions. He spent the next three years in Dubai where he worked with two international architectural practices, namely the PHB group and Rice Perry Ellis. His work in Dubai exposed him to large scale projects like malls and the high level of drawings and details that were necessary to create world-class buildings. The exposure helped him to understand the values of time and resource management.

Together Shobhan & Anand have been in practice for nearly 2 decades under the banner of ADND an architecture & interior firm. They believe their partnership has encouraged dialogue on design possibilities and challenges that come with it thus creating visually striking spaces delivered within the parameters of pragmatics. The designers engaged at their firm further propel this idea of continuance and prevent stagnation of thought.

They like to treat design as a process; something arrived with due consideration of pragmatics but not limited by them. The firm dwells in the atmosphere of “studio” practice combined with a sense of realism. The firm constantly strives for clarity of thought when it comes to the realization of spaces be it architecture or interiors. ADND believes that there needs to be the right interface between the client’s vision and the execution on-site and they make sure to provide that interface to bridge any gaps. Their firm belief about them being as good as their last project has persistently pushed them to strive for better. They work with a self-critical nature which helps them to take compliments and criticism in the same stride.

Their office is involved in numerous boutique projects of residential, corporate and commercial genres and they have many Awards and Publications to their recognition.

We are proud to be associated with ADND and be a part of their esteemed projects through our interior styling solutions.
